Seeds of a School

Seeds of a School in the University District

“Blessings and Blunders: A Journey of Learning in Rwanda” – Part 6

Some dreams take root before the concrete is poured.

This week, we visited the land we’ve purchased for our future school—and discovered it sits just across from where the University of Kigali plans to build its new Kayonza extension campus. Locals are already calling it the “new university district.” The excitement is palpable. People know a charity is building there, and it’s sparking curiosity and hope.

It’s the perfect place for what we’ve envisioned: a thriving educational hub that not only serves children, but also becomes a resource for teacher practicums and professional development. The proximity to the university could open doors for collaboration, innovation, and long-term impact.

But there’s still one thing standing in the way: paperwork.

Navigating the administrative landscape has been… well, let’s just say patience is a virtue we’re being forced to master. Officials assure us they'll "get to it next week," but so far, “next week” hasn’t arrived. Despite the delays, we’re holding fast. Because this vision is worth it.

Brick by brick, signature by signature, we're determined to create a space where every child is seen, supported, and set up to shine. And as the buzz around this district grows, so does our belief that this little piece of land could one day be a launchpad for generations of learners and leaders.

This may be the final chapter in our Week Two series, but it’s only the beginning of something far greater.

Thank you for walking with us through the blessings and blunders. Stay connected—and if you’re inspired to support the journey, reach out at livingchannel@g.mail.com.

Until next time, keep believing in what’s possible. 🌱
