Redefining Disability: From Needs to Gifts

At the heart of our mission is a fundamental shift in perspective. We believe that when a community focuses only on the "needs" of a person with a disability, they miss that person’s gifts. Our advocacy literature is designed to facilitate this shift for the next generation, moving away from "handouts" toward true partnership.

The Power of Story: "Josh’s Red Hair"

Our upcoming book, Josh’s Red Hair, proves that humor breaks barriers faster than clinical explanations. Based on a true story, it follows a non-verbal boy in a wheelchair who uses wit and a bold sense of self to ensure people see the person, not the equipment.

In testing, this humorous approach gave children a reason to engage, laugh, and—most importantly—relate.

Global Vision, Local Action

Our work in Alberta is fueled by lessons learned from Calgary to Kigali. By applying the principles of dignity and self-reliance used to break poverty cycles in Rwanda, we have refined a model of inclusion that transcends cultures. We aren't just printing books; we are scaling a tested movement of empowerment.

Closing the Gap for Families

Many parents feel the weight of "apologizing" for their child’s presence in public spaces. Our "Feelings" and "I Can Help" series change that narrative. These books:

  • Empower the child to recognize their own incredible capability.

  • Build a bridge for the community to walk across.

  • Provide a catalyst for teachers and librarians to spark real change.

We are ready to move these resources off our shelves and into the hands of the families waiting for them, but we need your help.

Won't you partner with us and invest in a new narrative?

Sponsor a Book: $20  Puts a softcover book in a family's hands.
