Building Hope, Restoring Dignity

Safe Care for Every Child

Most caregivers in our community—primarily single mothers and grandparents—must work to provide basic essentials, yet they lack a safe, supportive place to leave their children.

The Ability Center will bridge this gap by offering reliable daily care, rehabilitation, and education, giving parents the peace of mind to earn a living while knowing their children are thriving.

Bringing Healthcare Within Reach

For families in rural Rwanda, remote locations and prohibitive travel costs mean essential healthcare remains out of reach. While Living Channel provides immediate support where we can, our long-term vision is local, permanent access.

The Ability Center will bring comprehensive healthcare, physical rehabilitation, and specialized sensory therapy directly into the community—removing financial and geographical barriers for good.

Pioneering Inclusive Education & Vocational Skills

Children with disabilities deserve the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute.

  • Practical Skills for Independence: Specialized schooling and hands-on vocational training (including animal care) help students build self-reliance and community connection.

  • A Proven Model: Elizabeth, Mutoni, Kenny, and others are already benefiting from our newly opened center.

  • The Urgent Need: over 40 children remain on our waitlist, eager for their chance to learn and thrive.

On-Campus Co-ops: Nutrition, Skills & Income

Our center grounds host three interconnected co-op programs that serve children and families simultaneously:

  • Community Garden: Grows fresh, nutrient-dense produce to combat malnutrition and lets local farmers test high-yield crops at zero personal risk.

  • Chicken Co-op: Supplies essential protein for school lunches and family meals while providing student training and parent employment.

  • Sewing Co-op:: Offers vocational garment-making skills for students and fair-wage employment for mothers right next to their children’s care facilities.
