Our Vision for the Future

Building the Horizon: Capital Expansion Plan

Thanks to our community of supporters, Phases 1 through 3 of the Channel of Hope Ability Center are complete and serving families daily. But as our campus grows, so does our ability to bring sustainable health, wellness, and dignity to rural Rwanda.

Our upcoming capital phases focus on long-term infrastructure: dedicated healthcare facilities, expanded community centers, and inclusive recreational spaces.

Strategic Capital Funding

We actively seek capital grants, corporate partnerships, and major project sponsors to fund these physical facilities. To ensure responsible stewardship, each new building is constructed once foundational capital and ongoing operational support are fully secured.

Phase 4: Health & Rehabilitation Center

Goal: Construct a second dedicated building on campus to provide local, specialized healthcare, physical therapy, and counseling services.

The Future Vision:

  • Dedicated Clinical Space: A purpose-built facility for physical rehabilitation, clinical assessments, group counseling, and family health workshops.

  • Local Healthcare Access: Eliminates expensive and difficult travel for rural families by bringing medical and therapy professionals directly into the community.

Funding Strategy & Next Steps:

  • Capital Grant Opportunity: Seeking sponsors and corporate capital grants for one-time building construction and specialized clinical equipment.

  • Operational Readiness: Before construction begins, we will secure recurring sponsorships for ongoing healthcare staff salaries, ensuring full long-term sustainability from day one.

Phase 5: Recreation & Community Center

Goal: Construct a multi-purpose facility to expand existing programs, provide dedicated dining and office space, and serve as an additional revenue-generating community hub.

The Future Vision:

  • Shared Community Space: Houses a cafeteria for students and families, central administrative offices, and overflow space for both the school and health center.

  • Low Operational Overhead: Requires no additional core staffing—simply giving our active programs, students, and team the room needed to operate effectively.

  • Sustainable Revenue: Designed to be rented out for community events, district gatherings, and local church services when not in use by the center.

Funding Strategy & Next Steps:

  • Capital Grant Opportunity: Seeking one-time capital funding for building construction and essential interior furnishings.

  • Built on Owned Land: Construction will take place on property we already own, maximizing the direct impact of every donor dollar.

Phase 6: Inclusive Recreation & Sports Courts

Goal: Create an outdoor sports and play area featuring accessible playground equipment, a basketball/volleyball court, and community club spaces.

The Future Vision:

  • Inclusive Play Facilities: Features specialized accessible swings for older children and adults with disabilities, ensuring every student can experience the joy of play.

  • Community Sports Hub: Volleyball and basketball are hugely popular in Rwanda—this court will give local schools and sports teams a dedicated practice venue.

  • Parent Entrepreneurship: Provides a space where parents can launch and lead youth sports clubs, creating new income-generating opportunities.

  • Rental Income: Generates ongoing facility rental fees to help offset general campus maintenance costs.

Funding Strategy & Flexible Implementation:

  • Incremental Capital Upgrades: Funding can be raised in modular stages (e.g., funding the court surface first, followed by accessible play equipment and nets).

  • Low Maintenance: Built as an ongoing upgrade project that expands as individual sponsorships or small equipment grants are secured.
