Week 1: The "Boots on the Ground" Reality

A toilet, a shower, and a bit of a setback...

If you walked onto our school site today, you’d hear the sound of progress! We are thrilled to share that the school bathrooms are officially installed, complete with a working toilet and shower. It’s a huge milestone in making this building a sanctuary for our students.

However, as is typical when working on the ground in Africa, a new local government means new regulations.

The Pivot: We are now required to finish a paved path to the school before we can officially open. While a path was always in our master plan—since our current dirt path is impassable for wheelchairs during the rainy season—we now need to raise the $12,550 for the path and culverts much sooner than expected.

We aren't letting this slow us down. We see it as an opportunity to ensure that from day one, every child can access their classroom with dignity, rain or shine.
