Elizabeth is a sweet and shy 13-year-old from Kayonza, Rwanda, known for her kind heart and her love of helping others. Despite living with Down syndrome, she contributes at home by feeding the animals and assisting her family. Yet, for years, Elizabeth’s greatest wish—to go to school like her siblings—seemed out of reach.
Her parents revealed that none of the local schools could accommodate her needs, and other children often teased her because of her condition. Heartbreakingly, Elizabeth spent her days wandering the neighborhood, often getting lost and forcing her family to pause their work to find her.
But hope has arrived! Last August, the Channel of Hope Ability Center opened its doors as one of Rwanda’s first schools for children with disabilities. Elizabeth was thrilled to join its very first class, and her joy and passion for learning have blossomed ever since.
Now, Elizabeth and her classmates need your help! The students and teachers currently study on an open porch, exposed to sun, rain, and wind. We're on a mission to construct a proper school building and a much-needed perimeter fence to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment for these incredible children.
Your generosity can make a life-changing difference. Join us today in creating a lasting impact. Together, we can build a school where children like Elizabeth can thrive and fulfill their dreams.
How You Can Help: For just $10 or $11—the price of two cups of coffee—you can buy a personalized brick to help build this school. Each brick will feature vibrant colors and your name or message to inspire our students as they chase their dreams.
Fundraiser Dates: March 1st – May 31st Construction Begins: June 1st
